A clinical study showed that mulberry contains an active ingredient called deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) which delays glucose absorption in the body. The high content of DNJ in Mulberry leaves may help to balance blood sugar levels. It significantly suppresses the undesired rise in blood glucose levels after meals.
Sugar, when absorbed and broken down into molecules of glucose, quickly reaches the brain. It produces feelings of 'comfort' or 'energy'. Sugar bingeing is a lot like any other addiction - tolerance develops and you need more to get the same 'effect'. In Asia there is a long tradition of taking melberry leaves with high sugar foods.
Mulberry works by reducing the breakdown of sugar into glucose, and so less sugar is absorbed into your body. This will gradually reduce mood swings and at the same time enable you to limit your calorie intake. The high content of phytosterols may help reduce cholesterol levels.
Mulberry has been shown to be effective in suppressing the progression of atherosclerosis, the build-up of cholesterol-rich plaque in our arteries. The high antioxidant levels, flavonoids called isoquercitrin (quercitrin) and andastragalin help protect from the damaging effects of free radicals.
INGREDIENTS PER 3 TABLETS
Mulberry leaf extract 5:1 equal to 3750mg dry mulberry leaf.
Stabiliser (Cellulose).
Vegetable magnesium stearate (Anti-Caking Agent).
Silicon dioxide (Anti-Caking Agent).
SUGGESTED DOSAGE
1 tablet 3 times daily before meals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Not recommended when pregnant or lactating. Always check with your GP if taking medication.
